Nowadays the problem of making career as an interpreter causes great argument and controversy. Some people think that someone who knows foreign language can work as a translator without any difficulty while others believe that knowledge of the language is not enough to have a job in interpreting. Let us consider both opinions.
In my opinion, understanding language is a little part of working as a translator. To begin with, you need to have instant reaction to interpret something correctly and momentarily. What is more, professional translator must have extensive vocabulary and know a lot of words and their synonyms. Additionally, you have to be outgoing and communicative.
However, another point of view on this issue exists.

First of all, if you have a higher education as a translator you will perform your work easily. Another fact is that, there are many job openings which need employees who know language well.
Nevertheless, I can not agree with this statement because you need to have large experience of working as an interpreter. That is why studying at university is not enough to immediately get successful career. Moreover, if you are young specialist you should do your best to become acknowledged among colleagues and employer. It is a great competition in being a demanded translator.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the issue of making career as an interpreter is still to be discussed. I believe that it is hard to become a vocational translator. Nonetheless, one should analyze and compare all pros and cons before making a proper decision how to relate to this profession.
