Some people claim that journeys encourage people to learn languages, while others argue that travelling does not affect this desire. In this essay, I will try to express my point of view on this issue.
In my opinion, travelling has a huge influence on studying languages. To start with, knowing languages helps a person to be a confident traveler. If you want to travel safely and understand people around, you need to learn native languages. Moreover, travelling inspires you to immerse yourself in the foreign culture. Language is a valuable part of any culture so it helps to know the mentality better. Also, if a person wants to make new friends worldwide during his voyages, he has to study the local language to overcome the communication barrier.
There is another opinion on this issue.
Some people think that travelling does not worth studying new languages because they can communicate by using translation phone apps or asking a guide for help. Furthermore, the unlucky trip may disappoint person so he would study the language of a country which he does not like with a tiny likelihood.
I strongly disagree with this statement. Knowing the language makes your travel unforgettable. The experience will be completely different if you speak to people yourself, without using any devices. If your last trip was unpleasant, visit another country and learn the local language – maybe this journey will be miraculous.
To summarize, I would like to confirm that travelling wakes a wish to unite with other cultures. Despite the fact that a person can travel without language skills, journeys awaken interest to study different languages in our souls.
