The question of true friendship has been currently important and unsettling during many centuries and, nowadays, it still arouses the wide concern. Some people doubt that such a rare kind of relationships exists in real life, while others strongly believe in a deep feeling of mutual understanding and support between close friends.
As far as I am concerned, true friendship that lasts a lifetime is a fictional and utopian ideal. First of all, according to some existential sophists, we are destined to live in loneliness and incomprehension due to our complete disability to express our inner essence.
Besides, human beings usually prioritize their aims and career achievements over their personal connections and consequently give up on their friends. In addition, the fact that people change their interests and set of values throughout their life makes endless friendship impossible.
However, some people say that everyone needs an intimate friend to confide in. They tend to focus on a sense of protection, emotional comfort and moral support true friends give each other. Furthermore, spending a lot of time together, sharing prosperities and adversities bonds people and leads to a lasting relationship.
At the same time, I am sure that true friendship does not exist as our personal interests and desires usually leave close interconnection behind.
In conclusion, I am strongly convinced that endless and flawless friendship is not real, but everyone can decide for himself and take his own responsibility.
