It is wrong to make pupils read a lot in summer пример (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

The issue of reading is relevant nowadays but still it is rather controversial. Some people claim that making schoolchildren read a lot during the summertime is incorrect. Others state that it is right to force pupils to read lots of books in summer.

I am inclined to believe that making schoolchildren read a lot in summer is reasonable. To begin with, summer is a long period of time that gives pupils an opportunity to read a large number of books and enrich their vocabulary.

reading helps pupils to broaden their horizons and become well-rounded. Another argument is that in summer a list of possible activities ends soon, pupils become bored as they have nothing to do.

Reading helps schoolchildren to spend their time with pleasure and delight.

However, some people tend to believe that it is wrong to make pupils read a lot during the summertime.

As they see it, reading is a passive kind of rest that may prevent schoolchildren from doing sports and being active and can // cause their laziness to move and walk.

result in lack of outdoor activities and active pastime in general.

I cannot agree with the idea above. My opponents fail to understand that pupils should manage their time properly and spend time on reading as much as on active rest. It is good to have a rest from mental activity as lots of reading undoubtedly forces schoolchildren’s brains to work and gives food for thought which is very useful for pupils, so they should read a lot in summer.

All in all, there are two points of view on the issue of reading. I am strongly convinced that it is right to make pupils read a lot in summer.
