40. It is wrong to make pupils read a lot in summer (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Nowadays students annually receive a list of literature to read in summer. Some people believe that it is right to make children read school literature programme in summer while others keep the opposite point of view.
As far as I am concerned, I dont think that students should be asked to read a lot in summer. First of all, holidays are the time when students can forget about school and relax to start the new school year with new strenght.
If teachers make pupils read a lot in summer, students simply will not have time to rest from school. Secondly, as a rule students who read books in summer come back to school and realise that they have forgotten the material. Thus, they have to spend their time and read it one more time to refresh the book in their memory.
However, there are people who think that it is right to make pupils read a lot in summer. They claim that contemporary children and teenagers are only sitting on their phones and playing videogames all day long, so reading will be a great substitution for meaningless occupations. I cannot agree with this opinion. Modern children and teenagers are interested and busy with plenty of hobbies and facilitations such as sports, foreign languages, robotics etc, so they may not have free time for reading school literature
To sum up, I want to say that teachers should make student read only during the studying process, not in summer. On holidays students ought to gain strenght to start the new school year and get good marks.
