40.2 Some people think that extreme sports help to build character (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Nowadays extreme sports engage many people. Some of them claim that extreme sports can help to develop nature, while others believe the opposite.

In my opinion, extreme sports can really help people build a stronger character. Firstly, every sport, not even dangerous, requires a person to be physically fit. Therefore, training helps sportsmen to attain their goals, which also necessitate constant progress. Secondly, doing extreme sports requires bravery, dedication and commitment. For instance, a person who does mountaineering build self-courage as he or she has to overcome the possible fear for his or her life to continue doing the sport.

However, some people believe that extraordinary sports will only hurt people and their mental health.

Most extreme sports are life-threatening and statistics prove that.

Nevertheless, I do not agree with my opponents. I believe that injuries are a common cause in this type of activity. Every sport has its own «risk zones» and a person learns not to pay attention to pain. In addition, not necessary to choose the most dangerous sport in order not to put yourself in danger of death.

To sum it all up, the problem is rather contentious, but I agree that advantages to doing extreme sports considerably outweigh the disadvantages. It helps people to develop some traits of character, which can be useful in everyday life.
