Travelling abroad helps to understand your own country (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and ruins of ancient towns. They travel to enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene. To travel abroad is very popular nowadays. Only two or three hours in a plane and you are in another country. Travelling abroad is always very exciting and interesting because you meet different people, become acquainted with their traditions, ways of life, discover new places, new things, admire their culture. So a lot of people say that when a person travels, he understands his own country. However, their opponents disagree with them.

In my opinion, all is learnt in comparison. You miss your own country, always compare its places of interest and sightseeings of the country you are in at the moment. And when you are sick of the Gothic style of architecture you want to make a tour round sweet old towns of the Golden Ring, to meet our people who are very kind and generous.

You miss your tasty food too. I have always dreamt to visit Rome and my dream has come true. I am in Rome at last. I want to see its ancient sightseeings but everywhere I see rubbish heaps near these world famous places of interest, which are roughly painted with graphite. Moreover you can see crowds of migrants everywhere and it is very dangerous to leave your hotel after 7 p.m. The same situation is in Venice, Paris and in the whole Europe. And you are impatiently waiting for the day when you come home and may visit St Petersburg, which is called our Northern Venice. There are its beautiful buildings, bridges, palaces, clean prospects, marvelous suburbs where you are always safe and sound. Instead of skiing in the Swiss Alps you have a great desire to visit the Altai to breathe its fresh air, to see its unfrozen lakes, to eat Russian healthy food, to admire everything around and to make sure that Russia is the most beautiful country in the world.

However, some people suppose that the most foreign Europe countries are much better than Russia. In their opinion, if a person has ever been abroad, this place will seem to him more pleasant than his country. It concerns the standard of living, conditions, possibilities and so on. As they think, there will be even greater misunderstanding between people and their country.

I am against of this opinion because I think that these people are just not patriots. And it is hard for them to understand their country even in comparison with others.

Travelling abroad surely helps you to understand your own country and to become real patriot of it. You notice how much it is dear and valuable. You understand that the place where you live is worth visiting by the tourists and it is the most beautiful place for living.
