Some people believe that this money should be used to solve problems on Earth.
Space exploration and Earth problems… There are different points of view on this matter. Some people say that it is much better to spend those billions of dollars to solve problems that already exist whereas others believe space exploration needs financing too.
As far as I am concerned, solving the Earth problems is likely to postpone its inevitable death. To start with, spreading that large amounts of money would cause inflation and therefore devaluation which would not solve our problems but create the new ones.
Moreover, sometimes the nature related issues just cannot be solved: no matter how many prohibitions already are in the laws, some people do want to break them. In addition, decisions concerning such global things as solving the Earth problems must be agreed with all states, but it is rather difficult to reach a unified agreement in our time.
In contrast, there is an opinion that we must take care of our planet first as forces should be joined against such global problems as deforestation, the abundance of exhaust fumes, the solution of problems of third world countries and the care of the victims of the hostilities. There are often such people among soldiers and disabled who want to change this world for the better after what they had to see. Then, such people also admit that, as the results of the activity of some charitable organizations show, even the efforts of relatively small groups of people can achieve great success, so financing and creating new organizations that struggle with global problems is undoubtedly a good solution.
In fact, I cannot agree with them because it is impossible to deal with even some of the problems on our planet instantly and even with the help of the budget. For example, replacement of fuel with the environmentally friendly one would require the salvaging of parts of old cars and producing the new ones, that is unable to do the environmentally friendly way. Actually, there are organizations that, with their reach to the audience and staff, earn and immediately spend large amounts of money on solving environmental problems at least partially.
In conclusion, I would like to state that spending billions of dollars on space exploration is right since, to some extent, space exploration is aimed at finding a backup plan in case the Earth becomes uninhabitable. Undoubtedly, this is not good news, but it is inevitable.
