Nowadays many people are trying to become more eco-friendly. However there are some difficulties that prevent them from doing so. So, I have decided to do a project on “Why some Zetlanders refuse to go to work by bicycle” and found a table with the results of the opinion polls on which I will give my comments below.

According to the data I have found in the table, the most popular answers to the question “Why do you refuse to go to work by bicycle?” are “Too far to go” and “Unfavorable climate conditions”. The figures are 49% and 24% respectively. Meanwhile, the third place is taken by “Few roads with bicycle Lanes” with 13% of the respondents noticing this reason.

It is also worth mentioning that the number of the citizens refusing to go to work by bicycle because of “Few bicycle parking lots” constitutes 8% of the total which is slightly higher than the figure for “Too many cars on the roads” which forms 6%.

Such a small difference (only 2%) does not seem surprising since both factors make equal contributions to the creation of an uncomfortable atmosphere for bike riders.

Unfortunately, one problem that can rise with riding a bike in a big city is getting injured in an accident. To solve it one should purchase a helmet and protection for knees and elbows and wear them when commuting by bicycle in order to minimize the risk of getting serious injuries.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that the best way of getting around a big city is by underground. It is comparatively cheap and really fast.
