ÑÌÈ êàê ôàêòîð ôîðìèðîâàíèÿ èäåíòè÷íîñòè ëè÷íîñòè â îáùåñòâå Îáçîð ñòàòüè / Mass media as the factor of formation of the human identity in a society Article Review (Øêîëüíûå ñî÷èíåíèÿ)The title of the article under review is “ÑÌÈ êàê ôàêòîð ôîðìèðîâàíèÿ èäåíòè÷íîñòè ëè÷íîñòè â îáùåñòâå” (Mass media as the factor of formation of the human identity in a society). The author of the article is I. A. Akimova, PhD in Philosophical sciences, Head of the Chair of Sociology and Culturology, MSTU. N. E. auman. The article is taken from the science-journal “Ñåðâèñ Plus”. The headline reflects the subject matter of the article. The main problem raised in the article is the huge influence of modern mass media on consciousness and formation of the human identity. The communicative aim of the author is to draw the reader’s attention to both positive and negative factors of the influence of mass media on the identity of the youth. The article opens with the statement that the flow of information in the modern world is so various that it is impossible for an ordinary person to sort it out independently. Therefore, the author stresses that the enormous influence on people is made exactly by mass media. Then the author underlines that audiovisual mass media as television, the Internet and advertising have the strongest impact on society. esides, the author provides the reader with some figures. For instance, it reports that according to VCIOM's research, although Russians are critical enough to most institutions of power and society, they put their trust on the President of Russia and the mass media as the main authorities. Moreover, indices of approval for mass media activities are 53-55%. In conclusion, the author raises the problem of ever-increasing and at the same time the ambiguous role of the mass media in modern society. The author points out that negative influence of mass media lies in its task to create a strong, steady relation to the given phenomenon due to persuasion. The coverage of the article is objective as the author presents different points of view on mass media as a powerful factor of impact and leaves it for the reader to draw his own conclusion. I think that the problem raised by the author is vital because in twenty-first century mass media tends to shape political, economic and social values of an individual.
