People learn things better from those at their own level (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

People learn things better from those at their own level – such as fellow students or coworkers – than from those at a higher level, such as teachers or supervisors.

Numerous people believe that the most efficient form of education is the one that involves a strong hierarchy with a student as a subordinate to a teacher or a supervisor. However, others a sure that the best learning happens between fellows on the same level.

To my mind, the most productive exchange of knowledge is the one that occurs between equals. Several arguments can be presented in support of this position.

First of all, the presence of a figure with significant authority naturally causes stress in many people. This, in return, is known to lower the educational capacity. Therefore, information received from a person positioned at a higher level is less complete compared to that received from a peer.

Secondly, communication between people on different levels is more rigid than that between equals. Hence, there is a higher opportunity for a dialog among the fellows, which leads to better and more flexible education.

For example, people positioned at the same level as their educators, are more likely to ask questions to clarify misunderstandings and indicate which topics need to be spent more time on, which results in a more individualized studying experience.

However, there are arguments to be made against this point. One of them claims that a strong hierarchic relation between a student and a teacher produces discipline, which is a necessary part of education. Nevertheless, I think that the same results can be achieved within the same level thanks to the interest and personal involvement of the student.

To sum up, I definitely agree with the given statement. I believe that putting the student and the educator in an equal position leads to significantly more efficient learning and results in both sides gaining useful experience.
