40. There is a popular opinion that a man who speaks a foreign language perfectly can give lessons. Some people think a good knowledge of language is not enough for teaching. Now I would like to express my point of view on this issue.

I strongly believe that an advanced speaker can teach. Firstly, a man who is good at language probably practised a lot with a native speaker, so he would improve your speaking skills. This is an advantage because a teacher often has no time to hone his spoken language and could not give you this ability.

Secondly, the atmosphere of classes with a usual person is friendlier and more comfortable than with a teacher. An advanced man gives valuable tips, cheers up a student, while a teacher could exact strictly without some emotional supporting. Thirdly, an ordinary man with knowledge of language explains grammar rules in a plain way that leads to complete understanding of the subject.

However, there are those who are convinced that only a teacher who took an educational degree ough to teach. In addition, they trust a teacher more than someone else because of a teacher`s experience.

Nevertheless, I disagree with them. It is unnecessary to have a special degree, The main thing is to know the subject inside out and explain it. Moreover, if a person is excellent at language, he possesses the same knowledge as a teacher.

In conclusion, I point out that a usual man who is an expert in a foreign language can merely share his attainments with others.

Thanks for your recent letter. I`m sorry I haven`t answered earlier but I was really busy at school.

In your letter you asked me about tips on your situation. Well, I advise you to start learning to swim because it`s a necessary skill in life. Actually, it`s not difficult to learn to swim. I did it in my childhood, so you will learn so fast, believe me! In fact, I consider that you will need approximately about 5 lessons.

By the way, I want to ask you some questions. What is your favourite sport? How many times a week do you attend it? When did you start to do your favourite sport?

Anyway, I have to go now because my mum is calling me.
