Nowadays, friendship is an important part of practically everybody’s life. Personally, I can not imagine myself without friends. Some people believe that it is easier to make new contacts and become good friends than keep ones that you already have, while others consider it is not. Who is right?
In my opinion, making new friends is easier. Firstly, you can meet your new friend everywhere: in a queue, in the underground, in a cafe, on a street etc. You just need to start a conversation. Additionally, people tend to show their best qualities at the first meeting, so it is easier to seem a nice person. Finally, keeping current friends is more difficult. It is a big responsibility to be a good friend and not to deteriorate relationships with someone who finds you interesting and reliable person.
There exists another point of view on this topic.
For some people it is not as easy to make new friends as it can actually be. They are too shy and quiet to just start talking to a stranger. Besides, there is a big chance of distinction in interests and mindsets between you and possible friend.
Despite my respect on this statement, I can not agree. I think that you can make an agreement with any person, especially when you just met. You may discuss news, weather and etc, that is connected with both of you. What is more, there are lots of places of interests where you can see people from similar scope of activities with common lifestyles and hobbies.
Summimg up, I would like to use a great saying: “an old friend is better than two new ones”. I believe that keeping a friend is always more difficult, than making a new one.
