All school leavers have to make an important decision about their future occupation. Many of them listen to the advice their parents or friends give but others say that they must avoid any influence. Let us look into this topical issue more deeply.
I am concerned that young people should make this important choice by themselves and I see a few reasons for this . First, neither friends nor parents know the person as well as the person knows him or herself. Thus only people themselves are able to decide what profession interests them, can make them feel happy and satisfied. Second, young people are usually better aware of new tendencies on labour market than their parents and can better predict what professions will be in demand in the future. Finally, choosing a career is such an important decision that it is not possible to delegate the responsibility for it to anybody else.
However, many teenagers rely on their parents' advice when choosing a career.
They say that their parents are more experienced in life and know what it is better to do for living.
I see some point in this opinion, but I can not agree with it. Loving their children parents always choose the safest way for them based on their own experience. But this safest way is not always the most suitable way for their offsprings who are not their parents copies but personalities with their own features.
To sum up, I would like to say that although school leavers might consider their parents or friends advice, they should only rely on their own in choosing their future occupation.
