Most parents think that pupils should be required to learn a second foreign language. However, some people feel that one foreign language is enough. (Ñî÷èíåíèÿ ÅÃÝ àíãëèéñêèé ÿçûê)

Recently the importance of studying a second foreign language has caused a lot of debates. Some parents say that their children should learn it at school, while others think that students can do with only one foreign language on a curriculum.

Personally, I think that students can benefit from studying a second foreign language at school. Firstly, it dramatically improves memory and accelerates the process of children’s mental development .Secondly, it is not enough to speak a single foreign language if you want to stand in a competition among applicants and correspond to all employers’ requirements. In view of this, by studying a second foreign language at school one can increase his chances to be accepted in a prestigious job.

Nevertheless, some people think that it is irrelevant to have a second foreign language taught at school.

While having to study two foreign languages simultaneously, students are more likely to possess poor knowledge rather than have sufficient skills when they are engaged in a single language.

Yet it is impossible to reach fluency in both foreign languages by studying them at school, I think that a second foreign language is beneficial in a way that it widens students’ horizons and teaches them to appreciate cultural diversity of our world.

In conclusion, despite other people’s opinion, I firmly believe that studying a second foreign language affects students positively. In my opinions, it opens up a bunch of opportunities to children and helps them to become successful workers in the future.
