Travelling by train (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

It's difficult to imagine modern life without travelling, because it can broaden the mind and make you knowledgeable. It’s a well known fact that those who wish to travel have at their disposal various means of travelling. People, who chose railroads, want to have speed, comfort and pleasure combined and I would like to say a word or two for trains

ADVANTAGES

You see, travelling by train is a good chance of admiring the beautiful landscapes you are travelling through. sitting in the comfortable compartment. Moreover, people usually don’t mind talking to fellow-passengers or playing cards. And, of course, I can’t help mentioning the fact that if the journey isn’t long or you can’t afford spending a lot of money travelling by train is rather a good and cheap way of travelling.

By the way, if you are hungry, there is the dining-car at your disposal in which you can have a snack or even a substantial meal.

Besides, some people find it interesting to watch somebody waiting for trains or booking tickets.

It must give them pleasure to see the movement and the gaiety of people at big railway stations.

Though we all seem to agree that the future belongs to air transport, travelling by train is still popular and it is chosen by millions of people from all over the world.

DISADVANTAGES

But, I must point out that for some people travelling by train is to go through a state of nerve wrecking and such people are strongly convinced, that there are many disadvantages preventing you from going by train.

First of all travelling by train is much slower in comparison with travelling by air, and for this reason travelling by train is usually chosen by people who have enough time at their disposal. Moreover, the variety of civilized comforts is limited on the board the train, that's why people, who get used to living in a flat with all conveniences find this means of travelling rather inconvenient/

To make things still worse, compartments, especially on local trains, very often get cramped and stuffy, that’s why it’s almost impossible to take your mind off the journey. Trying to distract their mind from it, some people start reading, but reading is only a partial solution, because the sound of the wheels clicking on the rails soon lulls them to sleep.

But at night, when they really wish to go to sleep, they rarely manage to do it, and inevitably arrive at their destination almost exhausted.

And of course, very often you don’t know what people are you travelling with. I know it from my own experience, that fellow passengers can make the journey very unpleasant. You see, sometimes your fellow-passenger can be too garrulous, and when trying to keep up the conversation, you are unlikely to get a word in edgeways.
