40. Space exploration was the greatest achievement of the 20th century (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

Nowadays there are a lot of discussions about the value of space exploration. Some say that this is the greatest achievement of the 20th century, while others believe that it is overrated.

In my opinion, space exploration was not the greatest achievement of the past century. First and foremost, because it had not so much impact on the quality of modern life as other inventions did. For example, some breakthroughs in medicine made our life way easier and comfortable, so did electrification, but not space exploration. Another fact is that the space exploration program is too expensive.

Too much money was invested in it, but it all could be spent more rationally.

However, some people say that it was truly the greatest achievement of the 20th century because it has improved our technological level and gave us new technologies which are used in many industries, not only in rocket science.

Of course, space exploration gave us some new technologies to deal with, but I would like to mention again that those new inventions did not improve our living standard, and all these new technologies that are used in space flights do not serve people in our everyday life, making all of them useless and expensive.

In conclusion, I would like to restate that space exploration is not the most valuable subject in 20th-century history, though, of course, it had an impact on our life, but it did it less than other inventions of that period did.
