Monologue on PERSONALITY (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

How do we usually choose our friends? As ussian proverb says: “A man is known by the company he keeps”. In other words, the fact that someone else have the same interests, behave or look as well as person does – really mesmerizing for most of us.

ut what does it mean “behave the same way”? Today I am going to answer this thought-provoking question.

To begin with, at the beginning of the 20th century a well-known scientist Carl Gustav Jung

carried out a research on personality.

A thorough test was conducted by him. Many people were asked to take the test on possessing some unique qualities. So that scientist identified personality trait characterized by extroverts and introverts. For instance, extroverts are sociable, easy-going, open-minded, energetic guys, who usually become an undisputed leader at work or with friends, while introverts are wet blankets.

They are shy, serious and it is rather hard than easy for them to make friends.

Honestly, I find myself as an introvert person, although I get on well with new people. I am both thoughtful and organized girl. I am also sensible at doing my work. Therefore, when I was choosing my future profession, I accept what’s given.

eing an engineer requires not only “hard skills”, like scientific computing or analytical reasoning, but also being a hard-working and level-headed person. If I work hard, I will be a competent specialist in a few years.

Nowadays everyone has a chance to identify his/her personality type via online-tests. Most of them persuaded that site visitors would be shown right results. However, the validity and reliability of tests on intelligence and personality are still in doubt. Even if some of them seems to be reliable sources, people should not forget that they are running with a special algorithm. Moreover, online-tests on personality may change one’s mind. People can suffer from second thoughts, that something is wrong with their personality as they don’t act as it is written in the test. I am absolutely sure that such variety of online recourses with tests should have strong cautions before person starts it. Otherwise, participants take risks. Only psychologists can design tests for identifying right type of personality.

Despite the fact that I do not believe personality tests, I like reading horoscopes. Firstly, it can be considered as a science. Usually, they are done be astrologists. Secondly, in spite of tests

horoscopes don’t make up one’s personality. Even if horoscope warns a person about something bad, let him be careful all day, rather than be convinced that he/she has good communication skills, as it was written in the test.

Charisma must be something that make person special. It attracts others; however, charisma is not inborn.

Charisma needs to be cultivated during all life. You can develop it by reading physiological books.

ecently I have read one: “The Art of Loving” by Erich Fromm. It indeed broadens mind.

Talking about person with charisma, I think it is Angelina Jolie. I am really look up to her. She is both talented actress and generous person. As we know, she is a member of “Red cross” and also has brought up orphans as her own children. She always was my idol. Thanks to her, last summer I took part in volunteering. I think that only charismatic people can inspire others to outperform.

Now, I would like to give talks on moody characters. All of us have ever met nice, talkative and warm-hearted guys at first glance.

ut later, in stressful situation, they turn to be bad-tempered and bossy ones. This means, that true personality appears only in actions.

To sum up, although many people are convinced that first impression is the strongest one, I strongly believe that the only way to make new friends or just to find out true person’s personality is to spend some time together.
