Travelling is a popular pastime with thousands of people all over the world. Despite this fact, one may face some inconveniences while travelling, one of them is fear. I am carrying out a class project on travelling by Zetland citizens. For that reason, I have found a pie chart with some relevant results of a survey conducted among Zetlanders. In this essay I am going to analyse the survey data and express my opinion on the subject of the project.
According to the pie chart, when answering the survey question "What do you fear the most while travelling?", the majority of those surveyed opt for the response "Theft of money or phone" (42%). 27% of the respondents choose the option "Getting sick far from home". The responses "Losing or leaving your luggage behind" and "Missing your train or plane" account for 15% and 10% of the total respectively. The option "Quarrelling with your travel companions" ranks the lowest (6%).
As can be seen from the pie chart, the figure for the option "Theft of money or phone" (42%) is 7 times higher than that for "Quarrelling with your travel companions" (6%). It seems logical and not surprising because it is much harder to feel secure in the unknown place and tourists may need to take additional measures to make sure their property is safe with them, while conflicts with travel companions can be easily resolved through compromise and discussion.
Unfortunately, some problems may arise while travelling. One of them is that a traveller may catch a cold or get injured. To solve this problem, it is advisable for tourists to take precautionary measures and put some medicine in the bag before the trip.
In conclusion, I believe that to organize a safe trip it is necessary to study the information concerning weather conditions, possible natural disasters, economical problems leading to a high crime rate in the destination. Also, it is possible to consult a travel agent before the trip who knows a lot about different tourist destinations and possible risks awaiting for tourists.
