Some people think that Russian is easier to learn than English + ïèñüìî «next week we`re having a test» (Ñî÷èíåíèÿ ÅÃÝ àíãëèéñêèé ÿçûê)

There are a lot of discussions about languages. Some people are convinced that Russian is more difficult than English, while others believe that learning Russian does not cause problems.

To begin with, I want to point out that it is not quite easy to learn Russian.Firstly, foreigners confess that Russian spelling is hard. For example, you often do not know how to write a word correctly because there are a lot of exceptions to every rule. Secondly, a person may have some difficulties with

Russian punctuation. There are many niceties in this sphere of the language. Thirdly, Russian pronunciation is not fixed. Even native speakers cannot understand how to pronounce a word correctly because rules are changing almost every decade.

Nevertheless, there are those who opine that the English language seems harder to learn than Russian.

First of all, one word usually has many meanings in English. For instance, it is the word “alternate”. In addition, English grammar has important nuances too. For example, “police” is singular in

Russian, but it is plural in English. This fact causes difficulties.

Anyway, I disagree with my opponents. We have a lot of synonyms in the Russian language which sometimes seem illogical to foreigners. Moreover,

there are declension and cases in the Russian language. Many foreigners stop to learn this language because of them.

Summing up, I want to stress that Russian is not a simple language.

Dear Jenny,

Thanks for your recent letter. It was great to hear from you again. I`m sorry I haven`t answered earlier, but I was really busy at school. I`m glad that you`re fine.

In your letter you asked me about school subjects. Well, biology is the most difficult subject for me at school. You know, we have microscopes for science and a gym for some sports. Actually, I revise the material that I need to get ready before a test.

By the way, I want to ask you some questions about your sister`s A-level exams. Were the exams difficult? What subjects did she take? What are the results of the exams?

Unfortunately, I have to go now because my mum is calling me.
