The selfish giant by Oscar Wilde retelling (Сочинения ЕГЭ английский язык)

One day the Selfish Giant determined to return to his own castle from his friend and found out that the children were playing in his garden. You see, he must have got angry and shouted in a very gruff voice that it was his garden and only he could be there. Without any hesitation the Giant kicked out the trespassers and put up a notice board immediately, which didn't let anyone enter the garden. To make things still worse, he built a very high wall to prevent children's appearance.

Nobody didn't' dare to enter the Giant's garden, and Spring and Summer refused to visit the Giant's garden, because it looked deserted without the children and birds, which used to sing their beautiful songs there. Moreover, even the trees didn't burst into blossoms. Even when the Autumn came and gave golden fruit to every garden except Giant’s, she mentioned that the Giant was too selfish. There was only the Snow and the Frost in the Giant’s garden everything was covered with snow and was vanished with ice there.

I guess the Selfish Giant realized that something was wrong, but nevertheless he didn’t understand it was just because of his gruff action.

But one day, lying awake, he heard a beautiful music of the birds and a wonderful smell of flowers. You see, he hadn’t been listening to music for so long that he considered that song to be the most wonderful song in the world. Then he looked through the window to notice, that there were the children playing in his garden again. It turned out, that they crept through the hole in the wall and the trees were so glad to see them that they couldn't help bursting into blossom.

In the farthest corner the Giant saw a little boy who couldn’t climb up to the tree as the other children, so he couldn’t but cry. At this moment, the Giant realized how selfish and greedy he was, his heart melted immediately, and he was very sorry for his bad behavior. He helped the tiny boy to climb the tree, and the boy kissed him in return.

Since that time The Giant's attitude to children changed, and he let them play in his garden, but to his regret, the boy didn’t appear again.

Many years passed, and the Giant became old and feeble. Fortunately, one winter day he was lucky enough to see the boy at last. The story came to its climatic point when the Giant saw the wounds on the boy’s hands and feet and inquired who had dared to wound him, but the boy told nothing, as he didn’t want the Giant to revenge. After a while he confessed these were the wounds of Love, and it was evident that the boy was God in human shape who came on earth to take the Giant in Paradise.

Next day the children entered the garden to find the Giant lying dead under the tree, all covered with white blossoms.

The plot is quiet simple, as it's built round 2 main personages, they are the Giant and the Boy. The author doesn't mention their names because they aren't important, besides he is more interested in their inner world

I believe, the Giant was very selfish, and as a result nobody must have loved him, and there was probably nobody whom he was in love with. I'd like to say, that he wasn’t pleasant to deal with, but nevertheless God sent the wounded boy to give him a chance to change himself, especially his attitude to life and people. And he changed indeed, he even managed to get rid of his selfishness, he became much more kinder and friendly.

As for the boy, I am absolutely convinced think it was Jesus in human shape, He gave the Giant a chance to think over his life, to understand that it’s better to do good for people and to be loved.

The idea is God gives us a chance to become better, we just must see it.
